Speaking on the Kol Berama Radio program hosted by Ami Maimon, Mekubal HaRav Yaakov Addis decided to address the bochrim from Yeshivat Be’er HaTorah, who at the beginning of the Elul zman received letters instructing them to seek a new yeshiva, explaining they violated the school takanah (regulations) by getting drivers licenses.
The decision by the rosh yeshiva, HaRav Gavriel Yosef Levy Shlita resulted in the expulsion of dozens of talmidim. The recipients of the letter however indicated that they still plan to remain in the beis medrash to learn.
According to a Kikar Shabbat report, the rosh yeshiva did try to establish a new yeshiva for the expelled bochrim, which was to be headed by HaRav Morgenstern. This effort did not succeed since it appears the bochrim were unwilling to cooperate.
Rav Addis insists they must all return, stating “the rosh yeshiva will not oust them and he will not interfere with their desire to learn Torah”.
Rav Addis stated he personally knows the rosh yeshiva, who he described as a “gentle person’ who he suggests should burn the licenses and re-admit the bochrim.

Without lashing out at anyone, –
Does anyone KNOW why such a takana was made???
If they don’t have a drivers license and want to drive they will do it without a license and get into trouble arrested etc. Is that better?
to number 1 and 2
i guess you dont know where and what bochurim can do or go with a car, that they would otherwise not be able to go if they didnt have a car and many bochurim would not brave getting arrested for driving without a liscence
Answer to number 2 No. It is very very common in Eretz Yisrael for bochurim to drive without license; and it should be condemn.
Just when I think we have reached a new low, it becomes old. Is there really nothing more important to focus on? Even when I went to yeshiva 25 years ago, the rosh hayeshivas were much more in tune with reality. It seems many people are simply being kept alive with medication these days.
