Honenu reported on Monday, 26 Tishrei, that investigators from the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested an IDF soldier in regular service on suspicion of involvement in “price tag” incidents.

The soldier, an approximately 20-year-old Shomron resident and father of two children, the youngest of whom is approximately two weeks old, serves in the Shomron Territorial Brigade. This morning he was arrested by military police detectives while he was on his base. Honenu attorney Adi Kedar, who is representing the soldier, reported that the investigators told the soldier that he was suspected of involvement with “price tag” incidents; however the investigators refused to specify a specific incident in which he is a suspect.

The soldier denies breaking the law, but as stated above, he is unable to refute the accusations being as they have not presented him with a specific incident in which he is a suspect.

The soldier told Kedar that the investigators told him that in addition to him also Alex Ostrovsky, an activist from the Binyamin region who was arrested approximately one month ago, and Elchanan Grunner, a spokesman for Honenu, were arrested. The latter two were not arrested. Kedar explained to the soldier that the investigators are attempting to misrepresent the situation with fabrications.

MPCID investigators informed Honenu attorney Kedar that the soldier will remain in remand for 48 hours, according to the orders of the IDF legal system, and then will be brought before a military judge.

Honenu reports that, “Recently we have been witness to an increase in the extent of false arrests of settlers, which have been proven to be baseless. We hope that the soldier will be released soon.”
