Deal Reached With Egypt To Release Ilan Grapel

Israel and Egypt have reached a deal for the release of Ilan Grapel, sources in both countries report. Grapel, who has been imprisoned in Egypt since June is suspected of spying against Cairo for Israel, charges that have been vehemently denied by Jerusalem officials. The former IDF soldier is also an American citizen.

Israel will be releasing 25 prisoners including three minors, none of which have ‘blood on their hands’ in exchange for Grapel. The deal must be ratified by the cabinet on Tuesday, 27 Tishrei.

Yitzchak Molcho, acting as special emissary for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu negotiated on behalf of Israel.
