President Shimon Peres on Monday, 26 Tishrei, made a trip to Mitzpei Hila to the home of Gilad Shalit, the IDF soldier who was released from Hamas captivity last week. The president praised Gilad for his endurance, for his persistence during the difficult period with the solitude and uncertainty that accompanied his ordeal.

Mr. Noam Shalit, Gilad’s father thanked the president for the widespread support Gilad received and continues receiving. “He was aware of the public support during his ordeal, and is thankful for it”.

Gilad explained that his recovery is slow, regaining his strength one day at a time. He also thanked the president for the support given his parents while he was in captivity.
