The Petach Tikvah Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 Tishrei, rejected an attempt to place travel restrictions on three terrorists slated for release in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal.
The petition was filed by Rivka and Itamar Mandel, whose daughter Kinneret was murdered in a terror attack. Three terrorists responsible are among the 1,027 being released by Israel in return for Gilad Shalit.
The Mandels filed a 1 million NIS civil suit against the three, asking for a court order preventing them from fleeing the country, flight risks, hoping to prevent their inclusion in the release.
The court rejected the request, removing this stumbling block from the release. The Supreme Court is still weighing petitions from a number of parties seeking to block the prisoner release deal.
