PM Netanyahu Lauds The Deal & His Cabinet

Seeking to deflect the growing harsh criticism resulting from the cabinet approval of the Gilad Shalit prisoner release deal, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has released statements explaining how the release of Gilad Shalit always remained a top priority for his administration.

The prime minister told his cabinet during the special session in which ministers voted to approve the deal, which will bring captured soldier Gilad Shalit home in exchange for the release of 1,027 terrorists “2.5 years ago, when this coalition government was formed, I accepted the responsibility to bring Gilad Shalit home to the bosom of his people and the bosom of his family, to bring him home healthy and in one piece”.

The prime minister went on to explain that Gilad was held under extremely harsh and cruel conditions for 2.5 years, without any visitation from the International Red Cross or anyone else. No one really knew his condition the prime minister explained. He explained that his first step was to obtain the video tape to document he was alive and his condition.

“We saw that his body and mind were functioning. We knew then that he was healthy and alive. I viewed that video as a form of a life insurance policy. It committed Hamas to maintaining his condition, not just to Israel but the international community”.

Mr. Netanyahu went on to explain how his worked tirelessly, every single day, seeking to bring Gilad home, lauding the deal, which he insists is the best possible one towards bringing the soldier home.

  1. This is how evil works on people whose core values are weak, absent, or deluded. Show me where Torah law permits trading a captive for “more than his value?” That is, the price is too high if terrorists are encouraged to do more because of it. It isn’t as if we don’t know the history of terrorists activities that are directly linked to previous exchanges.
