Former IDF chief rabbi, Rabbi Avichai Ronsky, head of the Itamar Hesder Yeshiva, has spoken out against the government’s decision to release 1,027 terrorists to bring Gilad Shalit home. Ronsky explained that the IDF should have ordered a military operation to free Shalit, but it appears this was not possible. The prisoner exchange he state is unacceptable.
He stated the deal is simply “surrender” to terrorism, a move that will place an entire nation at risk, a move that carries unacceptable consequences. He points out that we have learned that many of the terrorists released in the past strike out again, and this must direct us to reject any such notion.

They only strike again if Hashem wants them to strike.
Practicing dangerous behavior and then blaming H’ is like jumping in front of a moving truck or off the Brooklyn Bridge and expecting H’ to intervene. We have to merit divine intervention, and practicing dangerous behaviors will not help us merit that.
