As Yom Kippur approaches, many steps are being implemented to safeguard Israel’s security on the special day. Police, the IDF, MDA, Zaka, Border Police, Ichud Hatzalah, specialized units and other agencies move to special operational status, each according to its sector and responsibilities.
A closure is expected on PA (Palestinian Authority) residents throughout Yehuda and Shomron, prohibiting them from entering into pre-1967 Green Line Israel. Exceptions are made in case of humanitarian need – each case judged on its own merit.
Border crossings are closed, as is Ben-Gurion International Airport, including Israeli airspace. The airport opens for international arrivals at 21:30 on motzei Shabbos (Remember, the fast ends in Yerushalayim at 17:53 standard time, significantly earlier than in countries still operating on DST).
Public transportation halts on Friday, erev Shabbos/Yomtov hours earlier than on a regular Shabbos/Yomtov. Travelers are advised to check bus and train schedules to avoid becoming stranded.
Radio and television transmissions are halted as well.
As is the case annually, Magen David Adom and other emergency agencies urge those who feel compelled to do so to refrain from throwing rocks at vehicles engaged in an emergency response in the name of sanctifying the day.

LeShana HaBaa BeYerushalayim HaBnuya!
“As is the case annually”? That is awful! Shouldn’t those people who throw rocks be in shul davening? (Maybe that H-shem should forgive them for throwing rocks….??)
Gmar Chatima Tova everyone.
