Responding to a request from frum residents of a London neighborhood, a traffic signal is a busy area that operates manually during the week will move to automated mode on Shabbos and Yomim Tovim.
The traffic light compels pedestrians to push a button to inform it that one awaits a green light to cross. This presented major problems for the many frum Jews in the area of the busy intersection on Shabbos and Yomtov, prompting some to write to city officials.
According to a BaKehilla report, the city has decided to accommodate frum residents and the light will operate on an automated mode on Shabbos and Yomtov.

unbelievable – a country that obeys stop lights
it has nothing to do with obeying or not obeying. If you have a very busy street and you have to push to get a walk sign then it usually does not change unless you push. On shabbos you can’t push so the cars are always going and it is impossible to cross.
