Feds Arrest Seven, Including NYC Official, In Alleged Corruption Scandal

Federal officials say a city agency official was among seven people arrested this morning on government corruption charges.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation says Assistant Commissioner for the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development Wendall Walters and six other defendants face a 26-count indictment.

Charges include racketeering conspiracy, bribery, extortion, wire fraud and money laundering.

Walters allegedly accepted roughly $600,000 in bribes from unidentified private contractors in exchange for development contracts across the city.

The six others arrested include Manhattan attorneys and city real estate developers.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says the charges are allegations at this point, and the investigation is ongoing.

An arraignment is expected later today in Brooklyn.

If convicted of the most serious offenses, each defendant faces up to 20 years in prison.

  1. “racketeering conspiracy, bribery, extortion, wire fraud and money laundering.” — this is news?

News is something out of the ordinary.

Next thing, you’ll post an article about double parking in Boro Park, or jaywalkers, or people who talk about politics and business on Shabbos.

  2. Now I’m not saying that they are not guilty But, come on, 20 years? For what? I do all those things for breakfast. Anti-Semites! I dare someone say that my rants are ridiculous.
