Racial Tensions Mounting In Yad Binyamin

It appears that an incident in which an Arab construction worker threatened a Yad Binyamin resident with a hammer last week, the matter was not totally forgotten. This week, an Arab construction worker was attacked by local residents using metallic rods and pocket knives.

The latest incident occurred on Monday, 5 Tishrei, when a number of Jews attacked a construction worker, apparently due to his ethnicity. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police were summoned to the incident on Monday as was an ambulance. The victim reports the attackers were masked so he cannot identify them.

Residents seem to indicate this may have been connected to the incident with the hammer.

On this particular construction site the local municipality is building a new school, with some explaining the site is a frequent source of conflict between residents and workers. A number of weeks ago, a piece of heavy equipment belonging to an Arab contractor was set ablaze near the site and graffiti was sprawled on the site “Don’t hire the enemy”. The ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) has since become involved in the investigation.

It has also been learned that in the past, there have been other confrontations, albeit verbal only, apparently connected to unacceptable behavior on the part of the Arab workers towards local Jewish females.

  1. Sounds too strange to be true, unless the criminals admit their guilt. Seems to be a continued Blood Libel from the Galil.

  2. What race is involved? Arabs are a different ethnic group with a different religion, but they look like Israelis (and on a DNA level, they are closely related as well). The Arabs are as much a different “race” than Jews, as “Americans” are from “British”.
