Maale Shlomo Residents Confront Yassam Cops

Dozens of troops from Israel Police’s Yassam commando unit arrived in Maale Shlomo, a neighborhood of Kochav HaShachar on Monday evening, 5 Tishrei, apparently to arrest a female resident of the community.

Community residents came out to confront the force, seeking to prevent their entry. A number of residents of Kochav HaShachar also responded to confront the police force.

When it became apparent that they were simply outnumbered, police backed off and left. No reason for the intended arrest was reported.

  1. can you imagine the outpour of outraged posters, had this occured in Meah Sheurim???

But NO! this happened in a non ultra orthodox (whatever that means)neighberhood so its ok to resist arrest, and its ok for resident to confront the police….

  2. Mogold, I’m not in favor of resisting arrest in any democratic country with a functioning legal system. It is very disturbing that a whole community apparently refuses to be governed by law and order.

הוי מתפלל בשלומה של מלכות–שאלמלא מוראה, איש את ריעהו חיים בלעו.

  3. After my son was attacked and beaten by the Yasam thugs, I have little respect for their tactics. If a woman did something wrong and the police desire to speak with her, a more courtiest method of approach should be employed.

I do not understand why the Yasam thugs were send there, but I do know that the people in Kochav HaShachar are working people and law fearing people. Something is not in this story or else it is an example of gross overkill/

  4. I know people in Kochav Hashachar, and they are highly nationalistic and law abiding, as opposed to those in the tent city in Tel Aviv.
Who sends commandos to arrest a civilian? Especially Yassam who go illegally with no IDs, and in black to intimidate further. Not a way to treat citizens.
    This smells of Ehud Barak.
