Customs officials at Ben-Gurion International Airport apprehended a visitor, a French national, who entered the airport with a suitcase weighing in at 58kg (127.5 lbs), containing 228 esrogim. The man, who was detained, arrived on a flight from Paris. He told customs inspectors that he was planning to sell them at a 4 minim fair.
The esrogim were confiscated and will be sent to Ministry of Agriculture officials.
YWN-Israel last month reported that customs officials are permitting one esrog per passenger, no more. In addition, one may not bring in the other 3 minim.
