Israel Prison Authority rav, Rabbi Yehuda Wisner is working in earnest to prepare for Rosh Hashanah. The rav decided to launch a ‘hisorarus’ in the prisons, instructing prison rabbonim to spread the message, under the banner “אם אתה מאמין שיכולים לקלקל, תאמין שיכולים לתקן” (If you believe that one can spoil, believe that one can repair).

In the Rimonim Prison, shiurim have been underway for the past months to focus on one improving midos. In the Carmel Prison, there are shiurim of doing tshuva from love and simcha, and in another prison, Belz Chassidim came to hold a tisch, to spread some yomtov spirit and Torah to the prisoners.

Three new shuls were inaugurated in the prison system over recent weeks, along with two new Sifrei Torah. Arrangements were made to conduct minyanim in many prisons, and yeshiva bochrim have volunteered to strengthen minyanim and lead the davening.

The rav is also arranging for tefillin, tzizis and shofar workshops, to teach prisoners and hopefully bring them closer to adherence to Torah and mitzvos towards changing their ways.
