President Barack Obama’s Westside Los Angeles campaign offices were vandalized Thursday evening when a BB-gun was fired at the building just days before the president is due to visit the city.
An object also was thrown into the office at around 7:25 p.m. local time, but the Los Angeles Police declined to comment on what it was.
No was in the campaign office at the time, but the attack was enough to shatter the office’s glass windows.
The person who reported the incident to the police heard “glass breaking and noticed that windows were broken,” a LAPD spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times, which first reported the story.
Details on the incident remain scarce – the LAPD did not have a description of the vandal, and it was not clear if the act was captured on video.
Obama is expected to visit the city next Monday during a presidential campaign swing through California.
