Mayor Bloomberg trekked to Howard Beach this morning to meet and discuss issues with new Republican Queens-Brooklyn Rep. Bob Turner.
“I told him to do a good job,” Bloomberg said following the one-hour chit-chat at the Cross Bay Diner.
Bloomberg said it was the first time he had met Turner, a retired TV executive who shocked the political world by capturing disgraced Anthony Weiner’s congressional seat.
The mayor was accompanied by his federal legislative director, Michelle Goldstein. Turner was joined by his campaign manager, E. O’Brien “OB’’ Murray. Bloomberg had a fruit salad; Turner a muffin.
So, who picked up the $17 tab?
“I did,” Turner said. “That’s the least I could do. The mayor was nice enough to come out here.”
Bloomberg said the two had a lot in common. They both entered politics after successful careers.
The mayor also said it’s good to have a Republican voice from the city in Congress to relay important New York issues to the GOP leadership in the House.
Turner becomes the second city GOP representative in the House, along with Staten Island Congressman Mike Grimm.

Bloomberg should not be dispensing advice, here is a man who claims to be all independent but in reality gives into the unions ALL the time, he won the election by 4% against a really bad candidate, an election that was illegal and should not have happened in the 1st place ditto for Felder and Nelson. Plus he has raised the prices of everything and made driving, living and even using water imppossible. Turner better NOT take advice from this guy.
Turner for Mayor.
If you think Bloomberg is a bad mayor, just wait until they appoint Christine Quinn
I hope Turner checked to make sure he still had his wallet after Bloomberg left.
Did he at least offer Bloomberg a Cigarette?
