My wife, duly concerned over the upcoming vote on Palestinian statehood in the UN, asked me to check and see if the Torah world had any suggestions as to how to help avert what promises to be a dangerous development for Jews in Eretz Yisrael and around the world. After checking YWN I found that the only concerns seem to be the traffic problems in NYC and the upcoming Rosh HaShanah in Uman. Considering that the upcoming UN vote may effect places like Ramat Shlomo and Beitar (both outside the 1967 boundaries) I would have expected some call to tefillah or acceptance of a mitzvah. Sadly, there seems to be no such call. I for one will have special Kavanah on my tefillah of “Ulmalshinim Al Tehi Tikva” this coming week. Anyone care to join me? You can have this in mind while your waiting in traffic!
Moderators Note: …..Sadly….you have not been reading enough of YWN. See this story.
Call in sick, or go to work really really late and leave tomorrow.
“Sadly, there seems to be no such call.” B’michilas kvod kodshecha, bud the Moetzes, and all those who follow there directives, have been saying three extra kapitlach Tehilim daily (and in some kehilos – including Rav A. L. Shteinman’s – even on Shabbos). Indeed you are correct in that Chazal already provided us with a tefilah, although I believe the one you mentioned was aimed at poshei Yisroel. I also don’t think it is “news” that Yidden have to pray for the welfare of our brethren wherever they are. It would be very dsad day – one requiring its own tefilah – when we need a Rav to tell us to do so.
Thank you for pointing me to the article. My apologies for not searching further back. Thanks also to “Shuali” for his/her comments.
