A day following the arrest of Shalom Baruch Rust and his son in connection with the ongoing violence in Meah Shearim’s Batei Warsaw, Shalom Baruch was released without restrictions while his son was distanced from the capital for 45 days.
Neighbors explain that reports the father was arrested are inaccurate, explaining he was just accompanying his son, which seems to fit since he remains at home without restrictions.
The most recent round of fighting just serves to highlight the growing conflict with the ‘sikrikim (hoodlums) as they are called in the Israeli media and the Eida Chareidis. While in the past the Eida did use its political influence towards gaining the release from jail of sikrikim taken into custody, in this case, it appears Rabbonim did not lift a finger towards securing the son’s release.
Kikar Shabbat reports unnamed Eida officials simply stated “We are not going to become involved. It is not our business”.
In the meantime, at the Ohr HaChaim Seforim Store, also being targeted regularly by the area thugs, a metallic partition has been set in place to prevent sikrikim from smashing the glass storefront again as the store owner is indicating he is unwilling to continue addressing demands from the area hoodlums.

לא זכיתי להבין I can’t ever understand why dos the Eida “not gat involved”, why don’t they say clearly that what they’re doing is totally wrong! regardless of the cause! isn’t it their job?! isn’t such violance much worse then the sin of attracting tourists?
Not every violence in jerusalem is the aideh mechuev to respond. 2 manny’s is a place with prutzes maybe not to react like this but don’t give it away.

The Eida does NOT “get rich” off its hechsher.
They use the money to support there own institutions. Yes. They actually pay their cheder rebbeim enough to support their families ON TIME.
Whether you approve of their version or not, they put their chunich first and foremost. If only the rest of the world would show at least as much respect to their rebbeim as they do to their ‘generous balebatim’.
And if you don’t want to use their hechsher – just don’t. There are plenty of alternatives out there – even trustworthy ones.

Ido – if you mean Lashon Hara against the honourable name of the Eida Hachareidi, then I share your distaste. I presume you don’t have an issue with those of us wondering why the Eida Hachareidi is not being more harsh in condeming these Sikrikim. If you have a problem with what has been said against these Sikrikim then i must disagree. The original Sikrikim, the assassins in our midst at the time of the second temple contributed to the downfall of the second commonwealth. We do not need these Hoodlums creating havock and lawlessness in our times. If any charges are proven then let them serve their time as an object lesson and as a deterent to others of their ilk, let the EH not use its influence to free them but rather comdemn them in no uncertain terms.
