Career politician David Weprin (D-WFP) – who has held or run for four separate political offices in the past two years: city council, city comptroller, state assembly (twice), and now congress — cannot vote for himself next Tuesday, September 13th in the special election to replace former congressman Anthony Weiner because Mr. Weprin does not live in the district he is hoping to represent, the campaign of businessman-turned-congressional-candidate Bob Turner (R) today noted.
“Bob Turner will be voting for himself next Tuesday morning; I have no idea what Mr. Weprin will be doing at the time,” said Turner campaign spokesman William O’Reilly. “Mr. Weprin doesn’t live in the Ninth Congressional District, but he I guess he couldn’t resists running to represent it. Mr. Weprin is a professional politician who evidently runs for everything.”
As recently as last week Mr. Weprin was building a re-election website for state assembly, and there are persistent rumors that he will make another run for city comptroller in 2013 – if something else doesn’t open up sooner.
Mr. Turner is a life-long resident of the neighborhoods that make up the Ninth Congressional District. He has been endorsed for Congress by both Republicans and Democrats, including Democratic former New York City Mayor Ed Koch; former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R); former New York Governor George Pataki (R), and Democratic Assemblyman Dov Hikind (Brooklyn).

Obama could not vote for himself (or anyone else) either but he still ran and won. The only requirement in politics is money and no conscience. They are all the same, one party. I’ve been around long enough that it really does not matter for the average joe. Endorsements are strictly for personal agendas. Vote if you have the time but don’t kid yourself that it makes any difference (for YOU).
Homeless, Rav Avigdor Miller zt”l told people to always vote and always vote for the most conservative candidate running.
#1 — Obama could, and did, vote for himself. To run for Congress, you just need to live in the same State as the district.
How is he supposed to represent HIS neighborhood when he doesn’t even live there???
“Obama could not vote…”
You are ignorant. Even if Obama was born on the moon he’d still be a US citizen because his mother was. The issue was over whether he was eligible to be president which possibly requires being born on US soil.
Therefore what?
I live in the 9th Congressional District. If my neighbor lives, say, five blocks away, but according to the State’s arbitrary lines doesn’t live within the boundaries of NY-9, he shouldn’t be able to represent me?
Homeless please consult the constitution of the united states of america before making stupid comments.
Someone should tell this to the Hamodia, who is endorsing Weprin.
Even though I will probably vote for him, you should all know that Bob Turner lives in a private, gated community called Breezy Point, where no Jews are allowed to buy into.
FarRockDude: Nope Jews could live there (there actually are, sorry you bought into the Weprin shakranus).
Weprin has never offered an Idea on how to solve anything. And every one of his attacks has been pure shakrunus with no facts behind it. How can you vote for a kofer and a shakran
THIS IS ANOTHER PRESS RELEASE — NOT A NEWS ITEM. When will you people learn the difference?
