Citypass, the operator of the new Jerusalem light rail has announced the service will continue without charge, apparently at least until mid October, until a number of issues are resolved.
It appears the continued free service is due in no small part to the efforts of askan R’ Chaim Miller, who heads The Movement on Behalf of Jerusalem & its Residents, who turned to Citypass, the Ministry of Transportation and other agencies demanding that they address the unacceptably high cost of public transportation in the capital.
Miller vows he and his supporters will not rest until something is done to bring the rate of a bus or light rail fare in the city to a competitive price as has been done in many other cities.
