After announcing a cut in military and trade ties with Israel on Tuesday, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan clarified the statement later in the day, stating that the cessation in ties only pertains to military trading, government deals and not the private sector.
An aide to the prime minister spoke with the Wall Street Journal, clarifying that all defense cooperation is suspended.
The move followed Israel’s refusal to apologize to Turkey following the naval commando raid on the Marmara, the so-called terrorist vessel that was trying to break Israel’s blockade of Hamas-controlled Gaza.
Turkey, a former staunch ally which benefits greatly from Israeli tourism and military cooperation appears to be doing everything it can to sever ties with Israel despite a relatively benign Israeli response to harsh and unprecedented Turkish announcements and decisions of late.

Enough of that rasha’s face already I’m so sick of it!
He’s lining himself up nicely to be the next Saddam and Gaddafi…
When we learn to acknowledge that Parnusseh is directly from Hashem with nothing more than a little sincere Hishtadlis needed on our part, we will also realize that Turkey has so little do do with our success financially. It will be only their own loss if they sever ties.
The upside is knowing the true side of our enemies. Fake friends are worse than true enemies.
To velicher choosid:
Hishtadlus doesn’t mean to tell your customers your not looking to do business anymore.
If Turkey wants to stop trade that’s one thing, but for Israel to make the move first would be the equivalent of kicking a paying customer out of your store because he’s being grumpy.
Maybe Israel’s apology should be something like: “I am sorry that you feel that….”! It’s a great turnaround – apologize that the person is feeling a certain way, but not for your actions…
