Rabbi Chaim Druckman Shlita is calling on principals of his mosdot to participate in the sixth annual fast day commemorating the eviction of Jews from Gush Katif and northern Shomron.
Rabbi Druckman, who stands at the helm of Israel’s Bnei Akiva Yeshivot network, has called on all mosdot to take part in the day of fasting and tefilot, marking the sixth anniversary of the destruction of Gush Katif and N. Shomron Jewish communities, on 8 Elul.
In the letter sent by the rav to schools and students he urges widespread participation to mark that “tragic day, when the Jewish People brought this catastrophe upon itself”.
The rav asked that schools unable to do so to at the very least hold special tefilot to mark the day towards increased awareness.
The day’s main event will be held in the Churva Shul in the Old City of Jerusalem at 15:45.

And why not?
Many communities commemorate specific tzaros that occurred to them personally. The tanais will be accompanied by tefillohs, teshuva and introspective thoughts, I am sure.
HaSh-m has Ariel Sharon remembering this self-imposed tragedy EVERY day.
