Career politician David Weprin (D-WFP), who tap-danced at a news conference a month ago to distance himself from President Barack Obama (D), is now suddenly backing away from his support of President Obama’s signature issue, Obamacare, the campaign of businessman and congressional candidate Bob Turner (R) today said.
At a forum last night held in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, Mr. Weprin, who had previously stated support for Obamacare, had a sudden change of heart, refusing to say whether he would have voted for Obamacare, and instead pleading that he “likes some parts of [Obamacare], but not other parts of it.”
“Career politician David Weprin keeps getting caught on both sides of every issue,” said Turner campaign spokesman William O’Reilly. “First he refuses to say whether he’ll support President Obama for re-election, then he conspicuously leaves President Obama out of his campaign literature, and now he’s walking back his support for Obamacare. Obamacare will gut $500 billion from Medicare and costs thousands of jobs in New York hospitals; the least Mr. Weprin can do is take a clear position on it.”
In contrast, Mr. Turner has stated his firm opposition to Obamacare because of its cuts to Medicare, its cost to taxpayers, its increase to the federal debt, and the jobs it will cost New Yorkers. Former Democratic Governor David Paterson and independent Mayor Mike Bloomberg both warned that Obamacare would be devastating to New York State healthcare services and further hike taxes on struggling New Yorkers.
Mr. Turner challenged Mr. Weprin in early August to join him in pledging to overturn Obamacare in Congress.
“I am giving Mr. Weprin another chance to tell Queens and Brooklyn seniors what he will do when Obamacare is challenged,” Mr. Turner said. “Will he vote to keep $500 billion in cuts to Medicare services and more than $1 trillion in debt to the nation’s children, or will he stand up for poor and elderly New Yorkers in need?”
Mr. Weprin is a career politician who has held or run for four separate political offices in the past two years — City Council, City Comptroller, State Assembly, and now Congress. He does not live in the 9th Congressional District.
Mr. Turner (R) a former television executive who has lived his entire life in the neighborhoods of the 9th Congressional District, is running for Congress to help get America’s economy moving again. He has been endorsed for Congress by both Republicans and Democrats, including former New York City Mayor Ed Koch (D) and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Mr. Turner’s business career has taken him around the globe.
The special election will be held on Tuesday, September 13.

Derech Ha’teva he will probably win anyway because of all the mind numbed socialist liberal democrats in that district.
This isn’t news, this is a press release by the Turner party. What is it doing on Yeshiva World?
typical democrat. btw, he likes some parts of obamacare? maybe such as “do you want free health care for anyone who cant afford to pay and would you like to allow children to stay on their parents plan till 26? yes i like that part. do you realize that will cost x-trillion dollars, so we will raise taxes and fees and premiums on those who pay? no i dont like that part.” wow pure genius! i would definitely vote this guy over the guy who likes the paying part but doesnt want the free part. come on! dont even give this guy a chance. anyway if he wins his seat will be gerrymandered out so why would anyone vote for him it is just insuring you get less personal representation. remember a republican win here is a gain of TWO seats cause then a different demo has got to go!
Why must you publish Turner press releases as news?
These are blantant editorials of VERY dubious beracity.
Why does YWN keep publishing Turner’s press releases? I haven’t noticed them publishing Weprin’s press releases.
YNW is not an actual newsite, it is a tabloid akin to the NY Post & Yated-reporting is done based on their bias, there should be no surprise about this.
YWN is a service to the community. As such, it has the right to publish any article that will help members of the community decide how to vote in districts where they live.
Weprin made a tremendous chilul Hashem in voting for the toeva law “as an ‘Orthodox’ Jew.” He is just a Democrat machine politician. He does not deserve our vote. I just hope Turner has a chance because otherwise our votes in that district will be throwaways.
Democratic cuts to Medicare??? Pinpricks compared to what the Republicans voted for this year. Turner is a baldfaced liar.
Weprin is a tremendous disgrace to the Jewish community. Not just for his “proud” vote on gay marriage but also for chilul Hashem in the way he has conducted himself during the campaign.
YWN is doing a tremendous public service by publishing information about David Weprin so that people know who he really is.

To all of my dear liberal friends who are on the dole – please realize that the cookie jar is empty. There is just no more money to go around. Even if Obama has his wish and we tax the rich and, instead of just raising their taxes we tax them at 100% of income (in other words, take all their money), we will not solve the national fiscal problem. Cuts need to be made to programs that are paying for you not to work. You have no choice, your gig is up! Don’t listen to your liberal friends, they are misleading you. Get some training and get yourself a job.
