Three border policemen wounded in the southern Tel Aviv terror attack during the night are listed in serious/stable condition, Ichilov Hospital officials report at 9:45am. According to the chief of the trauma unit, Dr. Dror Sofer, the three were admitted with multisystem trauma. “They are all stable at present and I remain optimistic” he added. The three were struck by the terrorist as he rammed a stolen taxi into them.
One victim sustained multiple stab wounds involving major organs. The second was struck by the cab, leading to a fractured skull and fractured extremities. The third was also stabbed, apparently involving his femoral artery, leading to major blood loss.
A total of eight persons were injured as a lone Arab resident of Shechem tried to make his way to the nearby HaUma 17 nightclub, where about 1,000 youths were holding an end-of-summer event. The remaining five victims have been discharged. Among the visitors at Ichilov during the morning hours was Tel Aviv’s chief rabbi, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau Shlita.
“The actions of border police averted a major disaster” Police Chief Yochanan Danino told reporters, praising their response. He added that if the terrorist reached the nightclub chas v’sholom, the result would have been catastrophic.
