Fallsburg Police Chief Simmy Williams reached out to YWN to relay the following urgent message to our readership:
Do not go outside unless it’s absolutely necessary.
“I understand that today is Sunday and people want to go out, but people should understand the dangers of venturing in the outdoors today. The Neversink is still expected to rise a few inches, and many people have already been rescued from flood waters. Just about any road which has a stream, lake, or river next to it, has become part of the water. People have been taking their children out to see the water, and they are playing with their lives. They don’t understand the dangers of the rapidly rising waters.
Besides for the rising water levels, there are live high-voltage wires down in many places, verizon wires down, and other hazards.
Please stay indoors.
