A Brooklyn coin dealer died Tuesday after a group of thieves pummeled him near his shop and dumped his battered body a mile away, police sources said. Steve Halfon, 61, had just closed his shop, Liberty Coin Co. on Kings Highway in Gravesend, and was walking to his car when three men ambushed him just before 5:30 p.m., the sources said. The men beat Halfon to a pulp, stuffed him in a black Volvo sedan and drove away, sources said. They dumped his body on East Seventh St. near Avenue N in Midwood and abandoned the car two blocks later.

Very sorry for his good family. May they be comforted soon. Shame that Brooklyn seems to becoming more dangerous every day.
BDE. what a misa meshuna. he was a very nice person. he took care of his elderly mother for a long time. I bought clothing from him. he would give it for chatzi chinom. he was nebach a tinok shenishbo but was tied in w/ the sfardim. any info on the levaya and the name for mishnayos?
This is the second cold blooded murder on this Block within 3 months. In June a man was shot to death on a Friday night on the corner of East 2nd and Kings Hwy.
What a nice man and a great neighbor. I’m shocked no news source has mentioned his body was abandoned only feet from his home. He lived on Ocean Pkwy and N in one of the buildings there.
PLEASE !! i hope the Flatbush community comes out en masse for his levaya. He was a great neighbor with a big Yiddishe Heart. We must show support for his family AND we must show the NYPD that we will not stand by while Jewish blood is spilled on our streets in broad day light. I hope the Rabbanim and politicians take a stand !!!
TO #5– Please explain what the NYPD, Rabbanim and politicians can do. In other states, a man like him who carried expensive items would have had a gun permit for protection. Much better than any surveillance camera made. The people in New York State have become like sheep, listening to our leftwing liberal politicians and police brass that guns are bad so we’ll let the criminals kill and maim but we’ll have their pictures at the end. Really a great comfort to the niftar and the family. Me, I’ll continue working with the NRA towards making New York a “Right-To-Carry” state where the authorities MUST issue a carry license to any honest person who requests it. There are over 35 states with this kind of policy. And, no, they are not like the wild west at all. Hatzlacha to all and may Ha”Shem comfort the family.
Great guy. I was talking to him @ 3:30 yesterday – 2 hours before he was killed. Crazy.
