The city’s red-light traffic cameras have resulted in more than $52 million in fines last year to drivers who ran the lights, according to Department of Transportation records obtained by the New York Daily News.
That’s an increase of $15.5 million from 2009.
Throughout the boroughs, 150 cameras generated over one million summonses in 2010.
Each $50 summons is mailed to the owner of the car, along with a photo of their car blowing the light.
The Department of Transportation says summonses drop by as much as 60 percent in some locations after red light cameras are installed.

Let the city benefit from those passing or ignoring RED LIGHTS. The law is the law for the safety of traffic and pedestrians.
Put those alerts on your GPS and it will do both, slow you down, and save you money!
