United Hatzalah Update From Southern Israel – Day 3

United Hatzalah medics throughout Southern Israel maintained a wary eye on the sky throughout Shabbos and raced from scene of missile strike to scene of missile strike. Volunteers in areas that have not suffered missile strikes are still on high alert and are noticing that children and even some adults are complaining of symptoms of stress. Below is a partial recap of incidents involving reported injuries.

Beer Sheva 1 dead, 2 seriously wounded, 2 moderate and 2 lightly wounded. Over 26 people were treated for shock. United Hatzalah medical director Yuval Yirmiyahu was one of the first on scene, he described an unfortunately familiar scene of mayhem and carnage. People screaming, fires burning, glass and rubble littering the area. The first priority was triage and treatment of the most seriously injured. One person suffering from a gaping leg wound had a tourniquet rapidly applied and was rushed to hospital. Doctors there credited medics on the scene with saving the person’s life but were forced to amputate the leg below the knee due to his injuries.

Ofakim – a 4 month-old baby, an eight year-old girl and 20 year-old man were lightly hurt when a Grad rocket hit their home Friday night. United Hatzalah volunteers treated the wounded and calmed the fearful family members. The volunteers described a surreal scene of a Shabbat table upended and covered with blood stains and broken glass.

Near Ashdod 3 illegal Palestinian laborers were wounded, one seriously. They were transported to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva and Belinson in Petach Tikva.
