I send greetings to those around the world celebrating Rosh Hashanah. The sound of the Shofar heralds the beginning of a new year and a time of remembrance and renewal for the Jewish people. During these holy days, men and women are called to reflect on their faith and to honor the blessings of creation. The enduring traditions of Rosh Hashanah remind us of the deep values of faith and family that strengthen our Nation and help guide us each day. As Jewish people around the world come together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, it is a chance to look to the new year with hope and faith.

Mr President – May Hashem give you the strength to terminate all those who are seeking to harm us. Please do pardon Jonathan Pollard as he has been punished enough already.

Whatever the politics, it would be most appreciated if the president would pardon our Jewish brother Jonathan Pollard; we would be most happy to hear that he is being reunited with his people in time for the high holidays.
Suggestion: Write letters of appreciation to President Bush. Thank him for the good he does for Jews. NO mention of J. Pollard. When his term ends, the President can release anyone. THEN we write letters requesting Mr. Pollard’s release.
This is much more tactful than badgering the White House every day, especially when we haven’t said a thank you for Bush’s benevolency towards Jews.
I think it’s really sad how easily so many of us swallow this min’s lies. The only Jew he really loves died 2000 years ago.

Knowing that he is a politician – I would assume that his friendliness towards the Jews is more of a appropriate position – should the tides of political anti-Jewish sentiment arise (chas v’shal-om) and bashing Jews would help in an election – you would hear very different words. I believe he is merely a puppet in this world with our Creator holding his strings.
