Several Kevarim have been desecrated in a Bais Hakvaros in Kalisz (central Poland), a leader of the local Jewish community told the European Jewish Press on Tuesday. Halina Marcinkowska said several similar acts of vandalism and desecration took place in this cemetery over the last months – including a memorial plaque dedicated to the Jews of Kalisz, which was destroyed.
Before World War II, between 20,000 and 30,000 Jews lived in this city. Most of them perished in the Holocaust.
