The Associated Press is reporting that Iran hanged 17 men on Wednesday on the charges of drug smuggling. Over July and August, Iran hanged 21 other people – some with drug charges as well. Perhaps the USA should implement this technique, and stop the cancer which has penetrated America so badly?

Look at the dangerous lives these gang members and drug dealers are already exposed too… down here in baltimore the paper has drug-related shootings in it every day, these people aren’t so put off by having their lives in danger
Best idea ever; The only way to win the war on drugs
I’m for it 1,000,000%
Hanging? Absolutley not! The Guillotine is a much better idea…, televised.
I’m glad everyone here likes Iran’s policies.
lets not forget that drugs are the cause for most of the crime in the world.
If North and South America will start giving the death penalty for drugs, it’ll take care of 90% of the problem at least.
wow these are really embarrasing comments.Anything Iran is doing should be an indication of what not to do.
Like a Ben Sorer Umoreh we should kill anyone that takes drugs!
yeshivishaman: I would disagree. I assume you have never done drugs so you don’t know what it is like (I myself have never used drugs) But I have worked with kids that have. The dealers/pushers should be the ones killed. That will solve the problem over night. But we cant even convict the sellers.
The lawyers always mention the tough child hood that the seller had….. I had it rough too. I don’t deal !!!
Chas v’Shalom! Many of these comments show a real lack of understanding of the circumstances of drug abuse, which is good, because frum yidn shouldn’t have anything to do with this.
As a baal teshuva, I perhaps have a little more understanding, Hashem yerachem. The people who might deserve death are the drug distributors, those who have snared these drug dealers in their claws.
We are talking about unbelievably poor people who see no way out of their lives except to peddle this garbage. They are being taken advantage of by drug kingpins from South America, Africa, and the Middle East. There is proof that those kingpins are often aided by government organizations, including the CIA.
As Jews, we are obliged to seek the truth. Is what these drug dealers are doing wrong? Certainly. Should they be punished? Absolutely. Is murder the appropriate punishment for somebody so poor and uneducated that he doesn’t know any other way to support his children? G-d forbid.
Whoever said they are in favor of the execution of drug dealers gets my vote too. Just picture it for a moment; the drug dealers are selling poison for our children and ourselves to cholila ingest or inject into ourselves. Kol Ha’Kovod!
Just for a bit of perspective on the use of capital punishment.
In South Africa, they used to have capital punishment – granted it was under apartheid – and it worked. It was acctually nice thriving place.
However, once Apartheid fell, and the use of the death penalty with it, so did the neighborhood. As I’m sure most people know of someone who used to live there, or even visited, and how you can’t cross the street in some parts without armed security.
Viva la capital punishment!
Oh, and the poor drug dealers who have had a hard childhood, and not enough of an education, last I recalled a person invovled in an armed bank robbery and kills a few hostages – even if it is b/c he has no other choice of a parnassa – could still be eligible for the death penalty.
Too much attention given to those hung. Kill them with a drug overdose!!!
Drugs are a reality in our society. The biggest problem with them are the vast resources devoted to stopping their use with NO results. Drugs are rampant and our tax dollars are squandered on keeping petty criminals off the streets and in jail.
How many judges sit on the bench sentencing people all day and then go home and smoke a joint? I could care less about the losers that pedal this garbage and their sob stories, but the fact is the war on drugs is a big loser and we’re paying the price. Legalize and tax and we all benefit. When I was in BMG we used to see drug deals right in the open around 2nd St late @ night. Make them legal and regulated and these people have to get real jobs and their crap is off the streets. BTW I wouldn’t care if they did hang them but it will NEVER happen especially after Hillary & Obama take over.
HUH? what is wrong with drug dealing to deserve capital punishment?? Some drugs are as potent as alcohol… Not sure why everyone is for capital punishment for dealing- if they were ‘over’ one the the big 7 I would understand these comments- but drug dealing.. not sure why people are so fot it. seems repulsive to me.
post 15 – if someone is pursueing someone to murder them, you can kill the pursuer. the dealers are pursueing the addicts and not yet addicts to sell their poison to them. the dealers — from the guy on the street all the way up to the kingpin are all in the category of pursuers.
give me to hang 10-20-30 iranians a day, i’ll do it in a minute, who needs them to do drugs ? keep it up (mr.) achmedinejad. finally he’s done something right!!!
“give me to hang 10-20-30 iranians a day, i’ll do it in a minute”. Bigplaut , are you associated with some terror group ? People like you give judaism a terrible name.
Bigplaut, some of the people he has hanged are Jews and on trumped up charges too. The point of the article is for us to consider if the death penalty is appropriate punishment for drug dealing. I say that it is!
What about vendors who sell tobacco and alcohol? Just because certain things are allowed by law does not mean that they are unharmful. Long term effects of alcohol abuse can be the same as for other drugs.
