The developer and NBC reality TV star, who this week said wouldn’t rule out getting back into the 2012 race he ditched two weeks ago, has sent emails to people who signed onto the two Trump draft websites, and sent notes to two television fixtures reading, “See you in the spring.”
The two who received the notes — in Trump’s standard black Sharpie handwriting — were MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, who denounced Trump as racially incendiary for the “birther” crusade, and Fox News commentator Juan Williams.

He’s also considering a trip to Jerusalem, after talking with Israeli officials about meeting Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu later in the year, a source close to him said.

All of this appears to add up to Trump floating the possibility of entering the race as an independent, self-funding candidate next year when the GOP nominee is set and his latest NBC contract is again up for renewal.

Trump had openly weighed an independent run, then ditched it when he was flirting with a GOP primary run. One of his few policy comments in the weeks before he said he wouldn’t run were to call Rep. Paul Ryan’s Medicare plan an overreach. Polls showed that issue played a strong factor in the NY-26 special election, where a Democrat won a traditionally Republican district.
