All NYC parking tickets issued for alternate-side parking violations in the 66th, 68th, 70th and 72nd precincts from Aug. 8-10 (during the tornado) do not have to contest them because they will be automatically dismissed according to the NY Post. In addition, all those who have paid the tickets will get refunds.

This reminds me of the time when a cop gave out tickets during the black out a few years ago. I don’t get why the cops gave out tickets. They knew the situation.
Also reminds me of the ice storm last winter when after much public complaint, Bloomberg relented and waived NYC parking tickets. Nice that this time no public complaint was necessary. I cover this kind of thing regularly on my website and for my Manhattan Parking Search Engine and I can say that it’s rare for them to do this without prodding.
