After a months-long flirt, Donald Trump said Monday he won’t make a play for president in 2012.
“After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency,” he said in a statement.
“This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country,” he added. “I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.”

Gimme a break. If he thought he’d win, he’d run. It would increase his business opportunities!
“I have decided not to run, but please do not misconstrue that to mean my huge ego has shrunk even one iota.”
If he really thought he could win the White House, the man is delusional. There’s a huge difference between winning the hand of a young lady and winning the Presidency.
Why the insults? You think any traditional politician has a more winning personality? Is more honorable? You will see that is not the case. And, there is a long road ahead for all those running.
Trump was saying the right things at the right time. He has more real-world administrative experience than all the others combined.
He coulda been a contender!
“He has more real-world administrative experience than all the others combined.”
True! Four times he led a business venture into bankruptcy. That is a worse record even than George W. Bush.
Failed corporate executives become Republican politicians. One of the worse examples was Carly Fiorina, who ran Hewlett-Packard into the ground. Fortunately Californians saw through her and re-elected Barbara Boxer.
Trump has zero chance of winning the white house. He did this just for higher ratings on the “Apprentice” and it worked very well for him. He is a master at marketing!
Shucks. I guess I’ll have to go to the circus to see the clowns now.
“and re-elected Barbara Boxer”
And for this they are proud?
What a relief, Trump won’t be running!
Charlie Hall for President!
He has the right credentials. One, he is anti-republican (you can’t beat that one), and two, he is liberal (we love than, don’w we?), and three, he is anti-Israel. Given his political outlook and philosophy on issues that concern this readership, he will be our Obama II.
11,
How about Carter 3??
#5, EVERY man of business and/or finance knows, when you play the game as large as someone like a Donald Trump, you are not going to bat 1000. There are going to be ups and downs. And like I was taught, it is not how many times you fall (you said Trump had four bankruptcies); it is how many times you get up. The same goes for all of us. We all have our days of glory and our not-so-good days in terms of parnassa. Lighten up. And who do YOU like?
