According to the JTA, a Brooklyn-born Chilean rabbi was recently the guest of the king of Morocco. Rabbi Shooshan Ghoori who is a rabbi in Santiago, Chile, was invited to attended the annual celebration of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI. Ghoori, who is of Yemenite descent and is married to a Moroccan, was asked to bless the king at his hotel in Santiago.

Rabbi Ghoori is of Yemenite descent, and was born in Brooklyn. His Rebbetzin is from Morocco.
his rebetizin is from flatbush and is the daughter of a Morrocon that was brought over By Rav Avrohom Kalmanowitz ZTL
Rabbi Ghuri and his wife are a regular American couple, children of immigrants as stated above. In fact, they lived in Lakewood after their marriage until Rabbi Ghuri was invited to be the Rav in Chile.
himmelstein, Wasn’t she born in Morroco and came here with her family?
You have to read the full article written by him to appreciate what a great guy (Rav)Shoshan is and what he learned from it.

Rebbetzin Ghoori is the daughter of Rabbi and Mrs. Lankry. Her father has a Shul next to the Mir in Flatbush. Her mother is the world famous cook in Camp Agudah for over 30 years.
The Ghoori family runs the Aish haTorah Branch in Chile and do amazing work in Kiruv.
Maybe I should move to Chile then, because the Aish where I am does next to no outreach whatsoever.
I’m confused – I read the article linked by reb yid probably 1 or two years ago. (If not, it was extremely similar.) Is this story from the JTA an old one, or did he meet him again and the article above is not about this same encounter?
By the way, his brother is Yishai Ghoori, of Chavrei HaKollel in Lakewood.
and his brother in law is the world famous Moshe lankry in Lakewood
to metzapeh , the original article was about the kings trip to chile. last week i was by his place in morocco……….
Does anybody remember Mrs. Lankry’s Shabbos morning Kokosh Cake?
Yatzmich,
It’s been almost 20 years since I’ve been in Camp Agudah and I honestly don’t think I’ve tasted a better kokish cake since. Ahhh, the memories!
sammy, if he did do so, I’d bet the King placed an order for his weekly kokosh diet!
If we sent all the arab kings a slice of that kokosh there would probably be peace in our time.
