Yoily Witriol the first Frum (Chassidish) NYPD officer in history – was just assaulted while trying to making an arrest. The incident took place in Brooklyn on Fulton Street in the transit division that he is assigned to. UPDATE 10:10PM EST: Officer Witriol has been released from Wyckoff Hospital with a broken wrist – but otherwise in Boruch Hashem good condition. His attacker has been arrested for robbery (original charge) and for assaulting a police officer.

I’m sure NYPD will prosecute the individual to the fullest extent of the law (i.e. Assaulting a Police Officer), once the facts bear out.

your right, I know a frum captain who has been with the NYPD for years (as a side not, he is also a beautiful baal koreh).

He is also the first Chassdic policeman in NYC to get hurt on the job.B.H’ he will heal. (Maybe put this fact in the Guiness’Book of Records)

Hey bigplaut – does it really matter if assailant was white or black? I could see asking if the guy attacked him cause he is a Yid, but how is it relevant if he is white or black?

My Father a”h was one of the first frum cops back in the early 1950s.( LT. Aharon Medetsky) He retired in the 1970s as head of the Brooklyn warrent squad so he could learn all day.

While I’m not one to scream anti-semitism at every thing many people might view this as just that, anti semitism. Personally, I feel it’s all in a days work as a NYC police officer.
I’m all for Jews keeping a low profile, and not mixing in with extremely goyish surroundings, and I think we can all agree the NYPD is exactly that a goy dominated (like what 98%) proffession. Don’t take it the wrong way, may great uncle was the captain of the Narcotics Unit (with a beard) for many, many years.
