According to the Times Herald Record, the fire on Thursday night at the Pines Hotel in South Fallsburg (reported HERE on YW), is being investigated as a suspicious fire. It is reportedly the second fire in two years at the vacant hotel. Fallsburg Police have informed the Record, that someone set fire to the old day-care center at the back of the property about 11:00PM on Thursday night. WHY IS SUCH A FIRE BEING CONSIDERED SUSPICIOUS? WAS SUCH EVIDENCE FOUND TO MAKE THEM BELEIVE IT WAS A SET FIRE?
Moshe: I would imagine if the police are treating it as suspicious, the have good reason. Likely physical evidence (accelerant, etc.), intelligence, or other information.
himmelstein and sammygol – brillant posts – accuse your brothers without knowing anything!
As a person who was really close to this fire (and couldn’t access my bungalow due to the road closures) and the fire that occurred in the same area last year, I would strongly suggest that the fire department look into insurance coverage for these properties. It is truly amazing how quickly structures get put into place after these fires.
