Vicious Abduction of 4-Year-Old Child in Boro Park Sends Community Into Shock

commandpostveh.jpgThe Frum community in Boro Park is reeling in shock after hearing the sickening news that a 4 year-old girl was abducted last night. A community liaison with the NYPD has informed Yeshivaworld, that the incident occurred on 52nd Street between 19th and 20th avenues at approximately 8:00PM on Monday night. Apparently, the child was playing outside her home, when a man forced her into a vehicle and sped off. She was found on a street about two and half hours later, about 15 blocks from where she was abducted.

A spokesman for the Boro Park Shomrim spoke with Yeshivaworld and asked us to notify the community of the following:

The NYPD and Shomrim are doing their utmost to hunt down this sick individual. Detectives are working overtime on the case, a command post has been set up, and all available resources are being utilized. Extra patrols – both from the NYPD and Shomrim – have been put in place as well.

Parents should use extreme caution while watching their children playing outside. Do not leave your children (who are old enough to play outside) unattended “even for a second”.

If anyone sees anything suspicious do not hesitate to call 911 and Shomrim immediately at 718-871-6666.

  1. There was a story last week in Toronto about a young girl who had an attempted abduction just down the street where she lived.

  2. ה ישמור

I Think we all have to watch more in the SUMMER since the streets are more empty & these ANIMALS come out of their garbage pails

  3. WAS ON 52ND STREET AT 10PM WHEN THE AUTHORITIES WERE NOTIFIED
THE GIRL WAS NOTICED MISSING AROUND 7PM AND FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS WERE LOOKING FOR HER FOR 3 HOURS BEFORE NOTIFIYING THE AUTHORITIES
A BIG THANK YOU GOES TO REB YANKY MEYER WHO AS ALWAYS GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP A FELLOW JEW
GIRL WAS LOCATED BY NYPD ON 61 ST AND BROUGHT HOME TO PARENTS RIGHT AWAY
THIS STORY IS A SAD REMINDER OF THE TIMES WE LIVE IN AND LET US LEARN FROM IT NOT TO BE SO TRUSTING REGARDING THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN
    OUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION

  4. Unfortunately, according to the news, she was molested. Potato kugel, we need to watch over our kids all year round, not just the summer. This should be a wake up call to all parents.

  5. Call me a cynic, but the idea that they took 3 hours to contact the police makes me think that there is more to the story-I think most people wouldve contacted the police after 10 minutes-why would they possibly have waited 3 hours?-

  6. tooclose2detroit:
You are 100% correct. People tend to wait. I can’t understand why. Such a serious situation must be dealt with right away. I also want to mention that A friend of mines sister was walking in Lakewood with two of her friend on Friday nigh when a drunk man tried to abduct her. They all yelled and the man ran off. They got home and the father said not to call police because they were “no longer in danger and it was Shabbos”. I was in shock. Who knows who this man will go after next. While I am no Rov I think something like this must be reported right away even on Shabbos.

  7. BuzBuz:

I’m not a Rov either, and I don’t play one on TV (gasp!), but I don’t think one could violate a d’Oraisah in the case you mentioned, because at best it is safek piku’ach nefesh. But the least they could have done is ask a non-Jew to notify the authorities.

  8. and even if you want to say that it is not pikuach nefesh but rather sofek rape the same halachah should apply as there is hekesh to retzichah and the gemoro says you can violate the shabbos to stop a rapist.

  9. I am sick sick sick to my stomache. Crying for the family. Please everyone be careful with your precious nishomos there are sick animals rachmonolitzlon

  10. Unfortunately ,as per WINS ,the little girl was picked off the street near her home by a ‘person’in a black car and the animal showed her his animalistic side and she was taken to a hospital . WHY did it take the finding of this poor child to make it public? why was there no alarm when it was discovered that she was missing? Children, and teensgers, too, should always be where their parents can keep an eye out on them. This can happen just as easily in front of school,in a bungalow colony, apartment house. We must ALL be careful about being close,to strange-looking ‘people’.Better safe than sorry. We have to be extra careful in this time of terrorism and perversion. Let this be a ‘wake-up-call’,for all of us,K’lal Yisroyel, especially now, during the 9 days. May H’ redeem us soon. All of us must look out for one another and pay attention to our surroundings.

  11. I can only state a theory why they waited – they feared the agencies would make trouble for children at home. Only a theory.

  12. this story is really sick, and my heart goes out to the family. these are really sad times, and we cant keep thinking, we’re jewish, we’re protected, it cant happen to me. wake up, it is happening to you. this isnt the world we’d like it to be, and we cant leave our children outside by themselves.

  13. the reason they didn’t call the police is because if I child is missing for less than 5 hours all you do is sit in the police station and wait as they she will probably turn up soon.
(they wont begin a manhunt until 24 hours!)

Why they didn’t call Shomrim is a bessere shayla

  14. I have read that if we knew the power of tehillim in Shomayim, we would be saying it constantly. I came up with an idea that I would like to share with all you dear readers. It is called TOW. It stands for “Tehillim On Wheels.” When you find yourself in your car, and you are waiting – either waiting as your car is being filled with gas at the gas station, or waiting by the drive through window at your bank, or waiting to pick up your kids outside their school or camp, or at any other time that you find yourself waiting in your car – instead of doing nothing, take out a Tehillim and start reciting it. Start with Aleph and put a bookmark in at the place you get up to when your waiting time is finished, and next time start from there. In no time at all, you will see that you will complete the entire sefer Tehillim – all while waiting in your car! You can keep in mind Klal Yisroel as a whole when you recite the Tehillim, or you can focus on someone(s) specific who needs a yeshua or refuah – someone who is ill, the captured soldiers in Eretz Yisroel, someone in need of a shidduch, someone with parnasa problems, someone who is dealing with infertility, someone who is undergoing medical tests at that moment, those who have lost a loved one, etc. Just think what an impression this will make in Shomayim! TOW will certainly give a “lift” to Hashem and b’ezras Hashem, He will give a “lift” to us!

  15. If anyone has connections to Jewish publications or Jewish radio stations, feel free to promote this idea and if anyone is in the bumper sticker business, how about producing one that says “TOW -It’s the way to go!”

  16. This is a horrible story! Poor child and poor family. We must watch over our children better! They’re our most precious possessions.

  17. Shomrim is fairly large. They have branches in Williamsburg, Boro Park, Flatbush, Crown Heights, etc. And they are affiliated with NYPD via some formal arrangements.

  18. To Klurre Kup: The 24 hour rule is only for adults. When there is a missing child, the police begin the search as soon as they are told about it.

  19. IT SEEMS TO BE THAT AFTER SUCH AN INCIDENT , AGENCIES LIKE SOCIAL SERVICES COME AND MAKE THE FAMILIES LIVES MISERABLE BY TRYING TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THE CHILDREN ARE SAFE IN THE HOME OR NOT. THIS IS NOT A REASON WHY ANYONE WOULD NOT CALL THE NYPD FIRST, HOWEVER SINCE WE HAVE AVAILABLE B”H PEOPLE LIKE “YANKY MEYER” AND “CHAIM DEUTSCH” AND MANY OTHERS LIKE THEM WHO HAVE ORGANIZED ,SHOMRIM,CHAVERIM,HATZOLAH,ETC. THIS IS A REASON WHY WE WOULD FIRST CALL THEM AND NOT THE NYPD FIRST.

  20. I don’t wish to make personal remarks, but I feel that using the handle “lubavitcher rebbe” is at best tacky. I appeal to you, whoever you are, to please change it to something else. (Not that you are in any way required to obey anything I say, to the best of my current knowledge.)

  21. ACCORDING TO THE NES REPORTS THE CHILD WAS TAKEN BY A WHITE MALE DRIVING A BLACK CAR. WE HAD AN ALMOST SIMILAR INCIDENT, REPORTED ON YW, A FEW WEEKS AGO OF A WHITE MALE DRIVING A BLACK CAR, EXPOSING HIMSELF AND ATTEMPTING TO ENTICE YOUNG CHILDREN INTO HIS CAR. THEY WERE STANDING IN FRONT OF THEIR HOME IN FLATBUSH.

  22. tooclose2detroit, thinkingclearly and all others that have that question. (Why wait 3 hours to contact 911?) Most people wait to contact 911 for the simple reason that 911 is not helpful until pushed by public opinion. Try it, and I hope no one here ever has to try it for real. Call 911 and report a missing child (person). The first thing they ask is how long have they been missing. Heads up people, but until a 24 hour time period has elapsed they tend to down-play the missing report.

Its guys like Yanky Mier and his friends that put massive pressure on law enforcement to take the report seriously. May hashem bench him and his friends for all they do for the Klal. This requires a few hours of working the phones. First, they have determine that the child is indeed missing and then they have to contact people who can make a difference.
If anyone has another thought on this process why not post?

  23. 911 and the police do not wait to act when a yound child is reported missing.

(That is only the case with a teenager or older.)

  24. i didnt want to get into why the fam waited before reporting it in such a public forum as the net but since some are commenting correctly so
they were afraid of the authorities hence tried to find and reslove on their own alas a “clearly wrong judgment”
as one takes a bigger chance by waiting and not reporting this right away or at least call shomrim/hatzaloh etc as victim could very well be moving away from the area totally and by 10pm its dark out and much harder to find a missing child

  25. it’s not a Vicious Abduction, of course its bad that a child has been abducted, but the
Vicious-ness of the story is that parents don’t teach there children the basic rule of…DON’T TALK TO STRANGERS. one guy even told me why should i tell my kids if nothing happand…when are they going to tell there kids, when its chas v’shalom too late ?

  26. SHIKKER,
Yanky Meyer is one of the most outstanding askanim that klal yisroel has. A humble, selfless, dedicated, exceptional person who has done more for…eh, y’know what, this will never do him justice! I don’t think the editor will allow a comment as long as would be needed to begin to explain who Yanky Meyer is! “Dude” is definitely not the word!

  27. KAHANAwasRIGHT,

Are you normal? YW, please only print comments that sound like they’re coming from level-headed people. I usually just get a kick out of all the comments, but this one really hurt.

    Thanks.

  28. KAHANAwasRIGHT: First off, there was no talking here. The perp suddenly grabbed her and forced her into his car. Secondly, she was FOUR YEARS OLD! How much talking do you think she did with this guy?

Yes, we must speak with our kids about not talking to strangers. We must also speak with each other about not speaking insensitively to or about others.

  29. People are talking about this story all over the country, and the discussions are definately leading toward being more diligent with our children in these scary times. It’s obvious that we must daven, not just for this family, but for all of clal yisroel, but we must also take caution and prevention into our own hands.

B”H we have very large families in our commmunities. Unfortunately, that sometimes makes it very hard to “keep track of all of our children.” We have to make a conscious effort to look out for our children and our neighbors’ children.

Have they caught the monster who did this yet?
