The Beit Shemesh Hafganos continued this morning when several dozen Charedim pelted a bus with stones in Ramat Beit Shemesh on Rechov Nahar HaYarden resulting in the windshield of the bus being shattered. The rioters then spray-painted the words ‘Oz murderer’ on the bus, in reference to the Beit Shemesh Police Chief Oz Eliasi, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
Police and Charedi residents of the area have repeatedly clashed in the neighborhood over the last week after police arrested five Charedi residents for creating disturbances.

Does anyone know exactly why they are demonstrating, the article doesn’t make it very clear.
The majority of charedeim that live in bet shemesh and ramat bet shemesh are law-abidding individuals.
To smash a windsheild is “MURDER”, it will cause injuries to all riders in the bus.

The individuals who threw stones to injure passengers on the RBS bus are all “mental misfits” who were chased out of Meah Shearim and Geulah years ago. They should be locked up indefinetely or sent for 24/7 hard core therapy.

I think that they are protesting that some of their chevra is still being held by the zionists. Why are they in jail in the first place? Because they protested the removal of signs requesting that the customers to the shopping area – of a chareidi neighborhood – dress tzniusdik. Why the zionists felt the need to call the yassam – those club wielding, head bashing cops that were used to bash the heads of the tzionim when they chucked them out of amona – no one knows. But thats what this is all about…
Bottom line, you dont understand Israeli politics – which this is. Its a fight for the rights of chareidim to live in RBS as Chareidim, by their standards, and not have to put up with non-tzniusdik women coming to shop in their areas.

Move to a fenced in yishuv and have a shomer admit who is allowed and who not. RBS is a large community with many people walking the street, shopping and visiting.
The rock-throwing guy with the excellent aim should be inducted into Golani, Givati or Nachal Charedei as a sharp shotter.
Stan – most people in RBS – especially those who live in the protest areas want the signs, want the tznius, and live there. The chilonm dont live there. Leave the chareidim alone. RBS is a chareidi town. this is how it goes in EY in chareidi towns… a sad fact, but a fact

RBS is my home, it is a diversified Chareidi town, these guys are fringe lunatics. They have been causing problems since they arrived from Yerushayalim. (shabbos protests, burning garbage, fist fights, throwing shopping carts on road, rock throwing at bus of chedar kinder).

You are greatly mistaken.
Most people in RBS don’t want women walking around dressed non-tzniusly. that includes the 50% or so people who are Chardal.
RBS is not a Chareidi neighbourhood, but it has sections which are predminantly Chareidi, and one of those is the shopping precinct.
Us Chareidim moved into a Chiloni city because the prices were cheep. We bought houses above and around the shops because they were the cheepest houses. we knew full well that the residents of RBS, Bet Shemesh and even the surrounding moshavim (like kibbbutz Tzorah which doesn’t even have a shul open on Shabbos) would continue to come shop at “our” shops.
The whole issue of igns is a political issue. A few years ago we had a “Yom Hisoyrerus” supported by a number of the local Chareidi rabbonim. We davened that Hashem should put into peoples minds that they should put on some clothes before comming to our neighbourhood.
That “Yom Hisoyrerus” was not supported by all the Chareidi rabbonim because some believed that it would cause more problems than it solved.
With regard to putting up signs, even less rabbonim support it. And fewer still support demonstrations “for our rights”.
With regard to the use of Yassam, and the arrest of demonstrators… It is known that there is a Hafgana at least once a week in RBS Bet. Those sometimes end up with busses and private cars being stoned.
Throwing stones at cars, I assume you will agree, is dangerous and must be stopped. That is a job for the police (as the comunity leaders seem unable or unwilling to do it themselves). Once people throw stones at the police, they have the right to call in Yassam who have the right to arrest the stone throwers.
Some of the die-hards here claim that they are willing to die protecting the Tznius of RBS. It seems more that they are willing to kill for that.
Now the demonstrations are to get the arrested released… That sounds like Palestinian logic…

Besides for Ramat Bet Shemesh Alef & Bet there is another Chareidi area. that is called “Kiryah HaCharedit”.
I have lived here in RBS Alef for almost 3 years and have never heard of hafganot taking place in the Kiryah, let alone stonings.

It seems to me that you care not two cents about “Tzionim” or anyone who doesn’t fall into your clique. these people are yidden, just like you and me, and deserve some respect. I hope that you will feel just as disgusted the next time a “Tzioni settler” gets his head bashed in as you do about the stone-throwers in Bet Shemesh.
…and another thing, what exactly is the difference between living in Gush Katif, or Telstone or Ramat Eshkol for that matter? all of them are ibuilt on land captured in 1967. I assume that you wouldn’t be very happy to have the govt decide to evict you from your house.
Not all Chareidim in RBS want these signs. Plenty are unhappy about them. I’m not sure at all what kind of “rights” you have to dominate a public shopping area to conform with tzinus – especially since [barring the obvious] not everyone can agree on what is tzniusdik and what isn’t.
These people are violent reshaim, and throwing stones at buses proves the point. They belong in jail with their buddys. They give tangible support to the secular fearmongers who claim, that the Chareidim are a violent Taliban-like sect who want to take over the country one neighborhood at a time and enforce kefiah datit on all the non-religous. These nuts literally make me sick.
What did the people in the bus do wrong? For goodness sakes! Even if they can accomplish something this way, is it right to frighten and possibly harm innocent people? What kind of person behaves like this? I’m Charedi, but you wouldn’t catch ME behaving like this! (Granted, my Rebbe doesn’t let us behave like that, but personally I don’t think I’d have the inclination to do so. I was not raised to think that way.)
If they want to move into an area designed for chilonim because it’s inexpensive, that’s fine. But you can’t light the candles at both ends. Areas designed for chilonim usually include nice shopping centers designed to attract… you guessed it – CHILONIM!
I’m not saying that you can’t request proper attire, but you basically set yourself up for this.
