Brooklyn: Tortilla Factory Worker Killed in Mixing Accident

A 22-year-old tortilla factory worker in Brooklyn was fatally injured in a freakish accident early Monday when he fell into a dough-mixing machine, the police said.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was working at Tortilleria Chinantla at 975 Grand Street in East Williamsburg around 2:30 a.m. when he fell into the waist-high tub of the mixer and was pinned by the metal blade, which is not sharp but is powered by a strong motor, the police said.

The half-dozen other workers were unable to save him. No criminality is suspected.
