Hafganos in Yerushalayim Against Shame Parade

haf1.jpg(Click HERE to see photos of signs hanging in Yerushalayim.) Hundreds of protesters gathered this evening on streets in Yerushalayim and Bnei Brak to protest next weeks Shame Parade. In Yerushalayim’s Kikar Shabbos, four people were arrested at last evenings Hafganos. This evening, police used water cannons to disperse the crowd. And the fire department was called to extinguish burning dumpsters. Police claim that stones were thrown at them. (In a widely unreported event, yesterday saw the first ever Shame Parade through the streets of Chaifa.)

  1. is it possible to control the uncalled for rowdiness. If protesting is a Mitzvah it shouldn’t be “bo bavera” through Chillul Hashem.
We all know that many of these random acts of volience are by kids looking for action. Please could somebody control them !!!

  2. LISTEN UP! Instead of lining the streets… Let’s do what Hashem wants us to do – at the time of the parade let every Bais Medrash be filled with the sounds of Torah learning, let other holy places be filled with the sound of tehillim recitation, let children be learning Torah in their Yeshivos, let everyone take upon themselves to refrain from lashon hara, let hospitals and other sites be filled with people being mevaker cholim, let nursing homes be filled with visitors to the lonely, let food banks, chesed organizations, etc. be filled with volunteers, let coins be dropped in every available tzedaka box!! Let us create our OWN parade of Torah, tefilla, tzedaka and chesed. These actions will make a louder impact in Shamayim than the loudest screams on the street – these actions will light up Shamayim brighter than the biggest fire in a dumpster. THIS WILL CREATE A GIGANTIC KIDDUSH HASHEM!!! THIS WILL SHOW THE WORLD WHAT OUR TORAH IS REALLY ABOUT!!!

  3. A bus got stoned in Meah Sherim on thursday nite, police evacuated all passengers to safety and no one was injured. But, Why are we hurting our fellow yidden? Hows this gonna get us anywhere? Is this a kiddush hashem?

  4. I for one was always against the protests because I felt that it was a big chillul hashem. However last year when they wanted to make the parade the Chareidim took to the streets and protested. The parade was canceled. The police said it wasn’t because of the protests but they parade was planned until there were protests. If you try everything and it fails (which the Badatz did) what do you do when these animals still go on ? Also keep in mind that in this country talking gets you no where. When the chariedem protest it sends a message. I am not advocating violence but if your way of life, your frumkeit was at steak what would you do ? How important is your yiddishkeit ?

  5. You’re all saying very good, but the problem is, is that everyone who is PROTESTING does not read this website!!!!

  6. BuzBuz you wrote:

I am dan levav zechus and hope you were temporarily overcome – is your frumkeit at stake? (btw the word is not steak.) Will these marchers have influence on your Yiddishkeit? They desecrate a Makom Kadosh and they should be embarrassed by their actions – but I doubt many sign up for their way of life because they march.

Gold’s words above are “golden.” His advice is priceless – kach hi darcha shel Torah.

  7. Thanks, DrYidd…actually should be “her advice” !
BuzBuz, you wrote “When the chariedem protest it sends a message.” What I am saying is that we should be sending a message to the only One who really counts – Hashem. Right? So let us send Hashem our message – that we are going to “fight” this parade by bringing tremendous zechusim to Klal Yisroel through Torah, tefilla, tzedaka and chesed, at the same time that the parade is taking place. Hashem will look down and see all this wonderful activity and He will solve the problem of the Parade as only He can do.
