The Asbury Park Press is reporting that the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has released a statement that said that Lakewood Police Officer William Preslar, who was tragically killed on May 14 (as reported HERE on YW) “was driving at an appropriate speed for the time, conditions and task to which he was assigned.”
The officer was responding to assist another officer in the apprehension of a fugitive who was wanted on a warrant.
A deer had apparently crossed directly in front of the officers patrol car giving him no other option but swerve drastically – which caused his car to get wrapped around a tree – killing him instantly.
