Many readers might have missed an important piece of news which was posted in the YW Israel News section on YW at 8:34AM this morning. YeshivaWorld reported that two UN workers were gunned down in Gaza City. Now the UNRWA has issued the following statement:
“This afternoon, a refuse collector was caught in the crossfire and died while performing his duties in Khan Younis,” reads a statement attributable to the Director of UNRWA operations in Gaza.
“Another of our employees was caught in crossfire at Beach Camp yesterday and died later in hospital. Two other UNRWA workers, a sanitation labourer and a refuse truck driver, have been seriously injured but are in a stable condition,” it adds.
In view of the increased threats to UNRWA staff, Ging said UNRWA has no choice but to scale back its operations in Gaza.
“With immediate effect, the Commissioner General, Karen AbuZayd, has decided to suspend temporarily UNRWA operations in Gaza except essential medical services and emergency food distributions,” he said.
“These grave incidents and the increasingly desperate situation in Gaza underline once more the need for all parties to show the utmost restraint and allow humanitarian organizations such as UNRWA to fulfill their responsibilities towards the Palestinian people,” the press release concluded.

Cluck, cluck.
Where’s the UN Security Council when you “need” them? How about the French? Where’s Norway and their legendary love of all things Palestinian? Where’s the Guardian’s Robert Fisk? Why doesn’t he get into the line of fire?
I guess the “militants” couldnt tell the difference between the UN guys and the rest of the Palestinians.
forget the UN, where is milgrom and the nkusa?
mdlevine:
milgrom and nkusa are probably right now drinking L’Chayim in their burnt out RAT HOLE up in Monsey, celebrating Hamas victory in Gaza.
They should disappear altogether. They are Israel and Jew haters along with being felons. Their criminal nature I won’t post because the YW Editor will not allow it. Just use your imaginations folks.
Cherryhillbilly got it right. They couldn’t tell the difference, because the U.N. guy was a garbage man, like everyone else in that part of the world!!
was about to say what eliezer said!
what is the un doing collecting garbage?
dont they have enough here in that old schlacht-hoiz on 42 st???
where is the garbagemans union??? (oh yeah — its arabs. thats ok)
So what it the UN good for? Condemning Israel and fulfilling the basic civil duties for the Arabs of Gaza.
I wonder what I’d have to do to get the UN to pick up MY garbage.
