UPDATED 6:35PM EST: NY State police units are conducting a large search for a perp wanted in regards to a shooting at Bakertown Road and Campbell Avenue. Aviation is now overhead assisting, and the State Police are requesting that the entire Village of Kiryas Yoel stay indoors; due to the possibility of the perp hiding in the village.
State Police have one under arrest at this time. (6:35PM)

Can’t you report the news in somewhat of a professional fashion? Just phrase it perpetrator as opposed to “perp”.It just sounds tacky, thats all.

“perp” IS the official lingo used by Police, Shomrim, et all.

Its safe to go out, but police don’t have a suspect yet.
“Perp” is slang, and is not professional. If you were to look in any secular paper (tabloids like NY Post excepted), you would see “perpetrator” or “alleged gunman”.
It is a free country, though, YW never claims he uses the AP Stylebook, though it would make his reporting more “crisp” – and bland.
