Construction workers will break ground today on Delta’s new state-of-the-art terminal at John F. Kennedy Airport.
Once the $1.2 billion project is complete, Delta’s international flights will move out of Terminal 3, the old Pan Am Worldport. It will then be demolished.
International flights will head into the expanded Terminal 4, which adds nine gates and a larger baggage claim and customs area.
Security checkpoints will also be consolidated, to ease the flow of passengers.
Delta’s domestic flights will remain at Terminal 2.
The project is expected to create 10,000 jobs and should be finished by 2013.
