Ex-NYC Top Cop: Judge Took Case ‘Personally’‎

Disgraced ex-top cop Bernard Kerik claims that he’s serving a “sharply increased” four-year prison stretch because the judge took his case “personally.”

In papers filed with the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan, the former police commissioner is asking to be resentenced — to “preserve the appearance of impartiality.”

Retired federal Judge Stephen Robinson, now a partner at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, denied the charge.

“At all times, I tried to do what I thought was fair and right,” the ex-judge said. “And it was never personal.”
