PHOTOS: Jewish Child R”L Struck & Killed By City Bus In Brooklyn

A 4-year-old boy was R”L killed and his mother hospitalized after they were hit by a city bus in Brooklyn this afternoon, police said.

Little Evan Svirsky’s 45-year-old mother was seconds too late in her desperate bid to stop her son from running into the intersection of Falmouth Street and Oriental Boulevard, in Manhattan Beach, at about 4:20 p.m., according to cops.

Evan Svirsky A”H, hit by a B49 bus, was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital shortly after the accident, police said.

His mother, struck by the bus’ sideview mirror, is listed in stable condition at Lutheran Hospital, where she is recovering from head trauma.

The woman’s other son, age 6, escaped unscathed from the horrific accident that claimed his brother’s life, sources said.

“All the traffic goes by so fast here, its horrible,” said a resident, who would only give her first name, Rosemary. “It’s a 30mph zone but nobody does 30, it’s so scary.”

No criminality is suspected and the investigation is ongoing.

Misaskim volunteers were on the scene shortly after the incident, and remained there until the NYPD finished their investigation, and then began their avodas hakodesh.

  1. Maybe its a wake up call from shomayim. Something – we are doing wrong. This is the 3rd child in a week in Flatbush that got killed.

  2. I am not a novi, but it is clear that Hashem is sending us a message to do teshuva, to change, to become better or else. This is not normal that every day there is another child r’l… I am afraid to go to the YWN website.

  3. Has anyone realized how many horrific tragedies have happened recently? Can’t we learn a lesson for once? BDE. so sad. And for all the drivers who speed-stop it before you regret it. Rather waist three seconds of your life than waist your life (or someone else’s) in three seconds

  4. I always stressed to all my kids when I taught them to drive…
NEVER take your attention off the road EVEN FOR a fraction of a second. That brief moment of distraction can cause your, or some else’s life, to be lost or changed FOREVER!!!
THINK about the EXTREME selfishness that, for example, texting while driving indicates. You are saying in effect, my text message is more important than the risk (EVEN if you think it’s very slight) I’m taking with people’s lives!
What do you think HKB”H thinks of your priorities?!?

  5. Another horrible tragedy. So sad a 4 year old this time. What is happening in the world today is definetly a wake up call to start changing our ways. Im still in shock over the other accidents and lives lost from last weeks accidents and now this…BDE..Refua Shelema to the mom.
