Police have detained seven youths whom they accuse of vandalizing a Jewish cemetery in Klintsy, Russia (Bryansk region). Forty-three gravestones were knocked down at the end of last week by vandals. The youths, all of whom study at a local middle school, face charges of “mocking the bodies of the dead and the places of their burial” and could face up to three years in prison if convicted. However, juveniles rarely face severe penalties under Russian law. (USCJ)
