Police have arrested a 24-year-old man after he punched a 16-year-old Chassidish Bochur outside the Skver-Toldos Yeshiva in Outremont, but police called the case a “simple assault” and released the perp.
The man was ordered to appear in municipal court July 9 at 9 a.m. to answer to the assault charge, Montreal police Constable Robert Mansueto said.
Skver-Toldos’s is the same school that was firebombed on Sept. 2, as was reported here on Yeshivaworld, but nothing suggests that this incident was anything more than a common altercation, police said. “There is no evidence this is a hate crime,” Mansueto said. The 24-year-old told police he thought the teen was somebody else, Mansueto said. (The Gazette)

I think the chief of police needs to be arrested on hate crimes charges. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist- or a good police chief- to comprehend the issue at hand. How many more incidents do we need to make things clear to this fool? What- the frenchie thought it was his friend [ with the lange peiyos ] he was hitting? This chief should be giving parking tickets, if even that.
Yenta,
You misunderstood, he thought it was a different Jew.
Actually, the kid had been an extra in one of the Lipa Schmeltzer HASC videos, and he thought he was giving Lipa a potch for another video.
And if you believe that, you’d also believe it was not a hate crime.
matzalocaol,
I didn’t misunderstand anything. If it is as you say, why does it take away the suspicion of a hate crime?! If you’ll tell me he had a reason, then why is i necessary to mention that he thought it was something else. Use your keppel.
‘You misunderstood, he thought it was a different Jew.’
Granted! so he HATED anothere Jew! Besides, has PUNCHING become permissable? A mature man of 24 shouldnt be ASSAULTING teenager. If he had some sort of trouble with him, he should done things in a civilized way and have him reported!
‘A “SIMPLE “ASSUALT’
For heaven’s sakes!
