US gas prices could hit an all-time high by the end of this month due to ongoing problems at the nation’s oil refineries. Gasoline prices have surged 30 cents since early April to $2.97 a gallon on average, bringing them within a dime of the record struck after Hurricane Katrina shut down refineries along the Gulf Coast in 2005.
Gasoline stockpiles in the United States have dropped by 15 percent since early February amid an unusually high number of refinery outages, alongside robust demand and low imports.

Oil companies and Arab emigrates are loading up on the bucks on our backs. There is a petition going around to boycott GAS on May 15th.. we can show the companies that we are not the lackeys of the world and want the prices down.
Democrats: there is enough oil in our country to use, and lets squeeze the bucks away from the Saudis
1. The fact that the Arabs own the oil isn’t a factor in terrorism. For the most part, those nations (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc.) are relatively “pareve” when it comes to Israel-hating. So basically, when you’re paying $3+ at the pump, you’re helping some sheik drive a custom-made pure-silver Mercedes – not necessarily a suicide-bomber R”L.
2. What will it help to boycott it on May 15? You still need to get places, so you’ll buy it on the 16th ?!?
3. President Bush has decreed that the national reserve of petroleum be doubled, hence the high prices. Call him and complain…
uh huh. so you won’t go to work, visit your family, buy groceries, or use electricity? You are hurting yourself more than anyone. you can’t buy ANYTHING because EVERYTHING involves oil/gas to get to you. if you can think of some service that does not involve gas, then the tools that the professionals use do involve gas (for example lawyers use paper), dentists use electricity and plastic equipment. dumb idea. how about war instead?
yodo bakol vyad kol bo
to bupkiss,
of course if you have no gas, you’re not going to not fill up but if you can wait and squeeze out whatever you have left in your tank we just might show them something.
NO GAS…On May 15th 2007
Don’t pump gas on MAY 15th
In April 1997, there was a ‘gas out’ conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.
There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that’s almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.
If you agree resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ”Don’t pump gas on May 15th’
and then what? everyone pumps gas on the 16th, right?
so wheres the loss to them?
i think the best thing is we only use bicycles and let them
burn in gehenom with own gas
The fact that the Arabs own the oil isn’t a factor in terrorism.
This has got to be one of the most ignorant statements ever made on this blog, and that’s saying a lot.
The May 15 don’t buy gas thing is a big hoax. It won’t work.
I tried posting the website which explains why, but YW Editor did’t let the message through.
I’m not sure I understand this May 15th business either. Either the gas companies will double their revenue on the 14th, or they will double their revenue on the 16th. What’s the gain?
TO ALL YOU COMPLAINING WINGING AMERICANS!
THE PRICE OF PETROL IN THE UK IS CURRENTLY £0.93 PER LITRE.
FOR THOSE OF YOU NOT MATHEMATICAL THERE IS 3.785 UK LITRES PER US GALLON SO WE ARE PAYING £3.52 PER GALLON WHICH IS NEARLY $7 PER GALLON. SO WHAT ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT?????????????
GET A LIFE!
Shticky: You have less places to drive, and less room to do it in.
And what’s “winging?”
OK shticky. let me explain. we (in america) do not believe in socialism. you (in uk, others in israel, etc) do believe in socialism. your socialist government believes that using fuel for personal transportation is wasteful and bad for the environment. they also believe that they should then provide a DISincentive to driving a personal vehicle. thus gas (petrol) is artificially jacked up in price and always has been.
in america, people are accorded freedoms that are denied to those living in socialist regimes. as such, we pay a road tax and fuel surcharges etc, but those taxes are not designed to stop people from buying fuel. hence the difference in price (For your information, the disparity in prices has always existed – have you ever paid less that the equivalent of $4 per gallon? Even during the late 90’s when we were paying less than $1?).
you might like your government because it provides benefits that capitalist governments do not. whatever. the point is that the extra that you pay for petrol is a premium to be living in such a country with its plusses and minuses. so don’t try to equate your prices to ours. equate your prices to what you used to pay before the bush years.
kishke i meant wingeing
bupkiss it is nothing to do with socialism but the environment, something americans seem to not care about so they wont sign up to international agreements on climate change that every other CIVILISED (not socialist) first world country has signed up to.
where i come from, it’s spelled whining.
And on the subject of spelling, perhaps america is not civilised as you say but rather civilized. to reiterate what i explained already, america allows its residents the freedom to choose their method of transportation without undue punishment. if you are envious, you can come live here too.
it’s alright to be proud of your socialist motherland. just don’t try to deny it.
GAS WAR – an idea that WILL work!!!
This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It ‘ s worth your consideration.
Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and imight go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the “don’t buy gas on a certain day” campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn’t continue to “hurt” ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you’ re probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 – $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace….. not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can’t just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here’s the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON’T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It’s really simple to do! Now, don’t wimp out at this point…. keep reading and I’ll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) … and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)…and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it….. THREE >>>>HUNDRED MILLION >>>>PEOPLE!!!
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!
Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass th is message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.
THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
hatzlocho raboh with that. I have been getting that email once a month for the last two years. I think of it as “spam from a friend” i.e. the stuff you forward because you found it interesting.
If anyone is serious about this, the only way to do it is to put it somewhere serious. Email is deleted. Try media outlets such as newspapers and radio and T———V (not everyone in this country is frum). Even then I don’t know if it would work; Exxon Mobil has their hands in a lot more pockets than you know of – who do you think supplies the little off brand gas stations?
